Youth Mental Health First Aid ® (YMHFA) is a nationally accredited, evidence-based course that equips parents, caregivers, and professionals with the knowledge and confidence to recognise, understand, and respond to mental health challenges in adolescents and young people. It builds confidence, reduces stigma, and promotes early intervention. Participants receive a Certificate of Completion and may become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider (valid for 3 years) - a refresher course is required every 3 years to maintain accreditation.
You’ll learn how to:
Identify signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adolescents and young people
Provide an initial response until professional help is available
Connect young people with appropriate professional supports
Maintain your own wellbeing while supporting others
