Safe Environments: Through Their Eyes (Child Safe Environments) is a non-accredited training that provides the skills and knowledge to create, strengthen, and maintain child-safe environments. The course focuses on understanding your obligations, recognising potential risks, and responding appropriately to concerns.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognise indicators of abuse and neglect

  • Respond effectively to disclosures and concerns

  • Promote safer organisational cultures that prioritises children’s safety and wellbeing

  • Apply child-focused, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practice principles

  • Understand your legal and ethical responsibilities in child-related roles

Topics covered include:

  • Child abuse and neglect: signs, impacts, and protective factors

  • Legal frameworks and mandatory reporting obligations in South Australia

  • Responding to disclosures in a safe and supportive way

  • Managing and reducing risks in organisations and services

  • Building inclusive and culturally safe environments for children and young people

This training is ideal for:

  • Educators 

  • Youth workers and community service professionals

  • Tertiary students in the community services sector

  • Staff and volunteers working in child-related roles and/or organisations

  • Coaches, instructors, and tutors working with children and young people

  • Anyone responsible for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people

Delivery modes:

  • Full Day (7 hours) 

  • Refresher (3 hours) (best practice to complete every 3 years)

All sessions require a minimum number of participants and can be tailored to meet your group’s needs.

Group and concession rates may be available for tertiary students, larger bookings, and community organisations. Early Bird pricing may be available for selected training sessions and is subject to advertised cut-off dates.
